Homemade Marshmallow Chicks

My Easter basket was always filled with jellybeans, a chocolate bunny, and marshmallow chicks. As an adult I still can't make it through the season without buying a package of sugar coated marshmallows. Recently I discovered that I could easily make my own marshmallows at home and decorate them in festive ways for any holiday. Homemade marshmallows have a wonderfully light and fluffy texture that melts in your mouth and a lovely vanilla flavor. If you prefer, you can even use flavored oils and extracts to make lemon, banana, orange, cherry or even cola-flavored marshmallows.

With only a few simple materials like your household glue gun + scissors, these Crepe Paper Carrots are super simple and would be a creative addition to any Bunny Rabbit Theme or Easter Party! We used them as frame embellishments, as part of the dessert table backdrop, on sticks “sprouting” from mason jars, and scattered around the house for accent decor, but you can use them however you like!

This one was an easier switch for me – at least mentally. In practice, though, I’ve found it much harder to adjust to. One of the reasons is that I love brushing my teeth (weird, but true). So I brush 3-4 times a day. Usually for a looong time. My brushing habits were the major reason I wanted to switch to something natural. How much of that stuff am I ingesting with all that crazy brushing?

Would like to have this handmade quilt on your bed? It is not difficult to make it. Each square is sewn by machine on three sides, then a square of batting is inserted, and the fourth side is hand-sewn to the next piece, closing that fourth side in the process. So the blocks are kind of like individual pillows sewn together to make a quilt.

I decided to transform an old pair of jeans into a gardening apron and a garden tool caddy for a 5-gallon bucket. The back of a pair of jeans provide great ready-made pockets for an apron while the weight and durability of the denim is perfect for withstanding the harsh realities of a life working in the garden. An added bonus is there is little finishing of edges because you can retain the jean seams and use them as your apron edges. You may customize the apron such as adding some pretty floral trims, fabric flowers, or extra pockets.

Obviously, the easiest thing to do would be to repurpose a wine bottle as a vase. But you don’t want it looking all ugly and out of place so first give it a glamorous makeover. Some metallic paint should do.

I recalled an alternative image transfer process using acetone and a xerox color copy and transferring it onto paper so I decided to experiment with it on tile.We used images of family members from the past and present which included those still alive and those who had passed. Many were brought to tears because of the memories the coasters has elicited and because some of the photos they had never seen.
