What a week it’s been! Is it really March already? I’m still in February!. I have a fun, easy, and unique DIY project to share with you.In the midst of my son’s room makeover, the bookcase he had wasn’t fitting anymore, but he still needed something to hold his many of books. I had wanted to make shelves from old pallets for a long time, so this was the perfect opportunity. I’ve seen alot of pallet bookshelves around the blogosphere, but hadn’t seen a tutorial (not that I searched long and hard either), so here we go…

As soon as she started walking, Emma would find just about anything to turn it into a purse to carry on her shoulder – a Target shopping bag being among her favorites. It quickly progressed into shoes, tiaras, dresses and jewelry. None of it was anything we encouraged in her, so the fact that she just seemingly knew about accessorizing blew our minds. Now that Emma is a few years older, I needed to find a place to put all of her little necklaces. My original plan was to paint a pegboard with different color stripes to match her bedroom. But then, things went off the rail a bit.

I love popcorn. I love Nutella. It was only a matter of time before the two met in my kitchen and made themselves into a lovely little creation like this Caramel Nutella Popcorn. Okay, okay… this recipe didn’t make itself. But it’s easy enough that it practically did. And completely and utterly delicious!

This build is all about the beauty of imperfection. Care was taken to use sturdy pieces where structure counted. Other than that, it’s a fun piece that was designed and built by yours truly without patterns, guidance or advice. All I did was study some structures of existing benches, and with a quick sketch, revamped to suit and went for it.My measurements are offered up only as a comparison guide. Ultimately, you’ll soon find you need to adjust all the measurements depending on your mattress and board availability.

The cabinet was short and not very deep. Plus, it bore the mark of the
popular 90′s hunter green. It was ugly. Why didn’t I get rid of it years
ago? Maybe I was attached to it because it was the first piece of
furniture I ever stained myself. And it brought back fond memories of
calling the fire department because I smelled gas. Turns out you aren’t
supposed to use an oil-based stain indoors, especially if you have a gas
stove. Lesson learned.

I am so excited to be sharing this project with all of you. Most of the time when I pick up a piece of furniture to refinish I have no clue what I am going to do with them. That was the case for three oak bar stools that I picked up the same day I bought my vintage chair and the buffet that would become our woodland themed dresser. I was so excited to have more stools for our kitchen bar. And then I got them home only to find out that they were too short GAH! I forged on and decided to go ahead and refinish them after I fell in love with these cool vintage industrial style bar stools at Target.

Are you ready for a crazy adorable, super cute project today? I hope so! Last week I saw an image online that inspired me to make some sweet little stools for Charlie. They’re just her size, and just so darn cute. And again, the best part? They’re made from REAL wood! Scrap wood! The kind you have hanging around your garage so you can build these little suckers for free. But, if you don’t have wood just lounging around your home like I do, you can easily make two stools for less than $10 and 30 minutes. Including painting.

Today, the focus is planters. Unless you want just a simple cachepot, if you truly want your planter to drain there is an added trick. How to add drainage holes to a cement planter? With the addition of plastic straws to your plastic molds. Here’s a glimpse at some of the planters I made using regular plastics for the outside mold. For the inside mold, I used the plastic container that housed my plant from the nursery.

Neon Ombre Chairs

I bought these Ikea chairs without a real plan on how and where to use them. My goal is to move into an apt with a balcony that would fit a patio set…a girl can dream… In the meantime, I am armed with neon and ready to spray, so decided to give them my signature ombre treatment. It’s as simple as laying the chair on it’s side and spraying moving the nozzle further away as you work your way up the leg. Flip chair and repeat, let dry, Done!

I’m working on some simple updates to my small back deck. Since our yard is not landscaped yet (darn those new houses)
the deck off of our kitchen is exposed to the neighbors and not private
at all. I don’t know about you but sitting on a deck
in my pj’s where the world can see me just doesn’t sound like a
pleasant way to spend the morning. So I set out to solve that issue
with some simple, inexpensive and creative ideas.

While I could find reasons to argue each season as my favorite, I have a real soft spot for summer. I love the imagery of summertime: crystal clear swimming holes in the heat of the day, watermelon out on the back porch and cracking open a few cold beers on a warm summer evening with my closest pals; it’s all pure bliss for me. To ensure that the great joy of summer lingers on into fall and beyond, I decided to take one of summer’s beautiful emblems, pennant-shaped bunting, and create a version that will hold up year-round. Below I’ll teach you how to construct bunting made from solid cedar wood, perfect for indoors or out.

These cute homemade soaps have toy goldfish embedded inside to help make washing hands and even bath time more fun for kids. Plus they’re smaller guest sized soaps rather than full size soap bars making them perfect for small hands. Made from a crystal clear melt and pour soap base, these soaps are a snap to create so even the kids can get in on the crafting process. Due to the size of the toy embeds, however, these soaps are not recommended for any children under the age of three.

I know I always get pretty excited about the projects on here but, seriously, this is one of my favorites! I’ve had a hanging chair on my to-make list for months and there are so many gorgeous ones out there but this one just killed me! I decided to make a super basic version inspired by it. Besides drilling a few non-straight holes, (darn round dowels!) it wasn’t too difficult to make.
Kid Cookbook

My kids love to cook! I don’t necessarily enjoy the stress that comes with cooking with all three of my kids at once. Usually, I will only have one helper in the kitchen at a time. Anything above that, leaves me a frazzled mess! I also find they are more likely to eat, if they have helped prepare a meal.
